is a new month and we are still in need of some recess volunteers. If you
are available, please let us know. Thanks!!!
~If you have signed up to help us at
recess and are unable to make it, could you please see if there is anyone
else available to help out that day or let your child's teacher know so we
can work something out. Thanks!
~Just an F.Y.I.-reversals and capital
letters will be marked wrong on Spelling Tests from here on out. We have
gotten through the handwriting book and would like to see them form their
letters correctly on the tests.

A few notes to pass along:
1.
If you have recess duty and it is
raining, snowing or VERY cold out, you are still more than welcome to come in and oversee your
child's classroom for our indoor recess.
2.
Please make sure you refer to our Back To School
Night packet for questions you may have regarding Super Star. It is a little
different then kindergarten, parents will be able to join their child for
lunch and recess only and not the actual presentation. If you are meeting
your child for Super Star, you may wait for them by the lunchroom at 11:45!

Smile  Gram
Each week, we will be
sending home a Smile O Gram with a student who stood out for that
particular week.
This student may have
demonstrated good listening skills, followed directions, used his/her
manners appropriately, etc.
Homework
We ask
each first graders to read 20 minutes each night.
This can
mean reading alone or with an adult. Please initial the reading log
and return to school at the end of each month.
Spelling Tests
First
grade will begin spelling tests in October. Students will
bring 10 words home a week. The first eight
words revolve around a specific sound or blend. The last two
words are teacher choice. Please have your child study
these each night. Tests will be on Friday.
Take Home Backpacks
A
take-home backpack will come home with your child every other
Wednesday. Please complete the activity with your child and
return the backpack by the following Monday.
Other Homework
Other
homework you can do with your child is practicing
his or her prayers and addition/subtraction flash chards.
