Citation Machine

These resources are available to all St. Francis school students and teachers free of charge through Heartland Area Education Association 11.  AEA 11 pays a subscription fee for these services and therefore a password is required.  If your school is within AEA 11, contact your media specialist or technology coordinator for your school's password.

World Book Online includes all the articles from the 22-volume print set plus over 18,000 additional new and historic online-only articles, as well as more than 9,500 pictures and maps, 115 videos and animations, 9,300 sounds, 129 panoramic 360° views and more than 100 simulated historic web sites, World Book Online provides 60,000 cross-referenced links and 248,000 hyper linked dictionary definitions.

The AP Multimedia Archive is a collection of over 750,000 photos, plus text, graphics and audio files. Content goes back prior to the Civil War and includes content as current as today. The Archive is an easy to use visual database that will be very valuable for students doing research or completing projects, reports, and class presentations.

Atomic Learning is an online training database of over 2,000 tutorial movies (which is added to each month). Atomic Learning breaks down software programs into fast-loading tutorial movies played over the Internet. It actually shows you how to use a program, with narration.

A Comprehensive data source for worldwide weather information.  This site contains real data, with 10 years of past weather data, to support learning about weather, plus local and national forecasts.

EBSCO contains a Professional Development Collection with over 500 full text education journals, plus the ERIC database with SmartLinks from citations in ERIC to full text articles in the Professional Development Collection. EBSCO also has special collections appropriate for primary, middle and high school levels that include magazine and newspaper articles, speeches, historical documents, reference books, book reviews, photos, images, maps, and charts. Heartland is also subscribing to EBSCO's NoveList this year. NoveList for the high school level and NoveList K-8 for elementary/middle school, are online databases that help students and teachers find fiction books based on books they have read or topics of interest. Readers can search for books by title, author or by simply describing a book they would like to read.
