Homework

The students are expected to do the following each week:
-
Read 15 minutes every night - record in the Daily Planner
-
Practice flashcards
-
Complete any assignments (generally on Wednesday nights)
-
RETURN THE DAILY PLANNER TO SCHOOL EVERYDAY!
Second Grade Sacraments
Second grade is a huge sacramental year for our students.
In December, they will be making their First Reconciliation.
Please remember to practice the
Act of Contrition
with your child at home.
In May, the students will be
making their First Communion. With second grade being such
an important year in the student's faith community, we ask for
your cooperation in helping your child practice Mass manners and
appropriate Mass behavior. Thank you so much!
Center Work and Daily Grading
As a second grade team, we use the
below grading system to guide us in assessing your child’s
accuracy and effort. Please make sure to look at your
child’s work that is coming home, namely center work and
other daily activities. You will see either a plus, check
or minus at the top.
PLUS WORK:
Demonstrates accuracy, as
well as best effort and time spent wisely.
CHECK PLUS WORK: A check plus represents
improvement from a check, but not quite up to a plus. The
purpose is to show improvement and growth from previous
work.
CHECK WORK:
Demonstrates mostly accurate
work, some mistakes and areas where there could have been
more detail or time spent.
CHECK MINUS WORK: A check minus represents work
that is not quite a check or plus. It falls in the
range of demonstrating some effort, but not enough to
produce accurate work. Again, the purpose is to show
improvement from a minus.
MINUS
WORK:
Demonstrates inaccurate work that
was
hurried through and lacks detail
or following of directions.
