Building a Bright Future
2006-2007 was a great year of learning at St. Francis School.  Our students grew spiritually, academically and socially.  Our parents contributed time, talent and treasure to the programs, committees and special projects of the year.  Our parish community showered our educational programs with prayers and support at all levels.  We are truly blessed in this faith community!

MISSION
The mission of the Catholic Schools of the Diocese of Des Moines is to provide meaningful educational experiences for children and adolescents in an environment integrated by Gospel values that nurture faith, community, prayer and service. At St. Francis of Assisi School, we promote the spiritual and academic growth of our students in a manner designed to uphold the charisma and spirit of St. Francis. We honor his simple spirit, his love of brotherhood/sisterhood and his awareness of God’s presence in all creatures.

In 2006-2007, there were 41 members of the St. Francis administrative and teaching staff. Our support staff consists of 21 adult staff members.

FINANCIAL INFORMATION
The educational cost per pupil for the 2006-2007 school year was $3,376. This amount does not include the capital expenditures for the building construction and furnishings. Additional financial support comes from the capital campaign, the parish budget and the Home and School Association.

2006-2007 SCHOOL GOAL RESULTS
Indicators of Success in Other Local Goal Areas

SPIRITUAL GOALS

St. Francis School students will experience a variety of prayer formats.

 Progress Toward Goal

  •      All Kindergarteners attended Mass from the beginning of the year and learned the Our Father
  •      99% of all second graders learned age appropriate Mass parts
  •      Over 90% of third graders scored 90% or better on the end of the unit Mass parts test in music
         class.  Fourth graders completed Gospel reflections after school Masses
  •      Over 100% of fifth graders were trained as altar servers
  •      School Masses were cantored by students in grades one through eight; each class took its turn in
         planning and facilitating the Mass on their assigned day
  •      All  students K-fifth participated in the Rosary and Stations of the Cross
  •      All students participated in Advent and Lenten Prayer Services
