ST.
FRANCIS OF ASSISI HOME AND SCHOOL ASSOCIATION
Parents are encouraged to become
actively involved in and support St. Francis School’s parent
organization. The Home and School Association meets monthly as
indicated on the monthly school calendar. The mission of the
Association is as follows:

To embrace the spirituality
of St. Francis, challenging us to be instruments of peace and love,
and to coordinate spiritual and educational forces of home and
school in a Catholic educational setting. |

To promote a
cooperative/close working relationship between parents, teachers and
students and the parish to further the goals of Catholic education. |
 |
To foster understanding and
communication between administration, parents and faculty so that
all students may achieve their highest potential spiritually,
mentally, physically, socially and academically. |
 |
To actively support the
school, faculty and the Board of Education as it relates to St.
Francis of Assisi day school. |
 |
To raise funds for the support of Catholic
education and to be a resource for volunteers. |

Executive Committee
President: Kristin Gose
Duties: The President shall preside at all meetings of the
Association and of its Executive Committee. The President shall be an
ex-officio member of all committees except the Nominating Committee. He
or she will represent the Association at the Board of Education
meetings. The President will appoint special committees as directed by
the Association. He or she will authorize all disbursements by the
Treasurer.
President-Elect: Stephanie
Drey
Duties: In the absence of the President, the President-Elect shall
perform all the duties as are assigned to that office and fill the
office of President if it must be vacated for any reason. The
President-Elect shall serve as Program Chairperson and will be
responsible for updating all committee chairperson job descriptions as
necessary. He or she shall take applications at the April and May
meeting for chairs of standing committees. Upon completion of the term
as President-Elect, he or she will become President for the following
year.
Treasurer: Lisa
Frazier
Duties: The Treasurer shall receive all monies of the Association, keep
an accurate account of same and shall pay all bills, all of which shall
be through the SFA Church general account. All disbursements will be
made only after an SFA disbursement request form is provided and
approved. The Treasurer must have the books ready for audit before
being turned over to the incoming Treasurer on July 1. The Treasurer
shall present a monthly report of all monies of the Association at each
meeting. This is a 2 year term.
Recording Secretary:
Jennifer Kleiman
Duties: The Recording Secretary shall keep the minutes of
all Association meetings. The Recording Secretary will provide
information for the school newsletter and shall keep copies of Board of
Education minutes.
Corresponding Secretary:
Dawn Vandermillen
Duties: The Corresponding Secretary shall handle all
correspondence of the Association. He or she shall keep a list of all
members of the Association and shall act as Parent Communications
Chairperson.
Fundraising
Chairs: Colleen Biegger and Jill
Simplot
Duties: Suggest ideas for fundraising events and coordinate
all aspects of fundraisers. Provide a financial report to the Treasurer
for all fundraising events.

Purchase the Hy-Vee coupon book!
HyVee Coupon Books are another great way to raise money for our
school at no cost to you. Each coupon book costs $5. The first
coupon in the book is $5 off when you spend $50 on groceries, so you
get your money back!
HyVee Coupon Books may be used at HyVee and Drugtown. They are
also accepted at Dahl’s and Fareway stores.
Our goal is for each school family to buy 5 coupon books each
month. Home and School makes a $3 profit per book!

Duties: Coordinate marketing, ordering, and fulfillment
of SCRIP orders. |
Hospitality
Chairs: Lisa Donnelly and Jennifer
Mauro
Duties: Coordinate social events for the Association and
provide food and other items as needed. This committee shall also be
responsible for welcoming new families to the school and other
community-building activities for the school.
Parent
Communication
Chair: Paula Haney
Duties: Responsible for communicating Association
information to its members, providing a school directory and other
parent communication as directed by the Executive Committee.
Spirit Wear
Chairs: Kelly Fini and Jody Gehl
Duties: Coordinate all aspects of spirit wear and dress code
merchandise

Special Projects
Chairs: Gerri Heinrich, Pam
Hagenbucher, Linda Laughrun, Lori Grote
Duties: Implement such special programs as directed by the
Executive Committee; for example the yearbook, playground maintenance,
and wishing stars.
PLAYGROUND
MAINTENANCE PROJECTS
The St. Francis Home and School
Association is seeking volunteers for a new committee. The Playground
Maintenance Committee will deal with yearly grounds maintenance (remulching,
repainting), equipment (periodically checking condition of and need for
balls, ropes, etc.), and other needs (additional basketball hoops,
benches, trashcans, etc.) of our playground. This is a great
opportunity for parents who want to volunteer and cannot be at school
during the day. The more, the merrier, and an easier a job for all
involved! If you are interested, please contact Gerri Heinrich

obtain the names of people interested in offering their talents and
services to the school, and to make the necessary efforts to fill the

Duties: Coordinate all activities of the homeroom parents in
each class
Enrichment
Chair: Mary Bernabe
Duties: Coordinate enrichment activities at the school
Nominating
Committee
This committee shall consist of the Past President and
two members to be appointed by the Executive Committee. This committee
shall solicit names of interested members and nominations from
membership and recommend a slate of officers to the Executive Committee.
